Reflection on Literacy Narrative
I found the process of writing my literacy narrative to be somewhat challenging for me. While trying to think of readings that have impacted me, I realized that I was not able to compare to the readings as others will and that is when I took another look at the prompts and began to write. I began to write about the one that I had more experience but it was still a challenge in actually beginning to write it.
I began to remember the events about being bilingual and how it has impacted me and began process of my writing. I started writing A to Z to write down the ideas that I wanted to include within this assignment and organizing it throughout the writing. It was somewhat difficult to organize because their were some events that connected with each but were different on their own as well. Although it was a challenging task I was able to organize the events to the best of my ability. I started to learn a few things about how I process my work and realized that I am more productive when I just begin writing and edit throughout or at the end of my writing. Whenever I needed more help I looked at the NFW book and reviewed the pages that were assigned for reference as well which was very helpful. I am not sure if I have seen change in my writing but I feel that the process of my writing has improved a lot and maybe through this process my writing begins to improve as well.
Compared to the Introductory Letter both assignments are similar to each other but the Literacy Narrative was just a bit more difficult. The introductory letter assignment was more about introducing myself in a formal way and mostly talking about academics and the people who inspire me to do my best. In the literacy narrative I discussed further about an experience that has impacted me personally and how I am able to take advantage of it and help others with it. Both assignments are similar that I was able to use the introductory letter as a baseline for my literacy narrative. I used the introductory letter as a guide with all the reviews that my peers and professor made and took them into consideration while writing the literacy narrative. Once I finished my writing and than was given the chance to let one of my peers revise my work. My peer’s suggestions helped a lot since they pointed out things where I can improve and pointed out some errors that I did not notice.
When revising my work I took my peer’s suggestions into consideration and edited the paper with the suggestions and reread it twice. My peer did not suggest anything challenging but did suggest some things that were helpful when revising my paper. While revising my work I realized that I tend to repeat myself and it is something that I am currently trying to improve on. I reread my writing twice to see the areas where I repeated myself in order to fix it.
